THE MUSIC OF NEP: Episodes 2 & 3
Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 12:21AM What's Jonathan Listening To:
"I'm Not Sorry" by Ehren Ebbage, from the album Ten Cent Souvenir (2008).
We were introduced to Ehren's work by Chris A. Bolton, who cast him in Season 1 of Wage Slaves and also used the fantastic title track off of Ten Cent Souvenir for the opening titles of his show. We soon realized we had some common friends in The Dimes. In fact, we shot one of absolute favorite performance videos of Ehren at a Dimes show last summer. It was one of those great unplanned moments where everything just works out perfectly.
"A Lonely Boy Makes a Handsome Steed" by Reclinerland, from the first self-titled album (1998).
"Don't You Know There Are Lonely People In The World" by Reclinerland, self-released as a free download (2/14/09).
"It Started At The Arcade" by Parks & Recreation, from the upcoming album How To Save The World (2029).
Michael Johnson, the creative force behind Reclinerland and the front man for Parks & Recreation is one of oldest and dearest collaborators. He's acted for us, written with us, and permitted us to use the bulk of his musical catalogue over the years. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Michael's music is pretty much the official Grammar School Pictures soundtrack. All of us at Grammar School Pictures are anxiously awaiting Reclinerland (2011) as well as the now almost mythical Parks & Recreation follow-up How To Save The World.
But, while we wait we can always take comfort in the classics. Please enjoy this first video collaboration with Michael, originally filmed for the 2004 48-Hour Film Project in Portland.
